New York Fashion Week Wrap Up

As yet another New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week draws to a close, we pause to reminisce the highs, the lows, and the out-of-this-world-amazing. From small scale designers to fashion high-rollers, the eight day event painted a picture of neons, prints, lace and, of course, leather. A constant staple to runway, designers featured the fabric by the bucketload.

Nicole Miller
Master of the silhouette, Miller certainly knows how to dress a woman, artfully draping her fabrics over her models. Her looks for Spring 13 feature grunge mixed with girly, combining floral prints with edgy leather jackets and zipper front skirts.

Aussie designers REPRESENT! Ellery's show was all about structure. Whether folded skirt splits or squared patterned jackets, the designs were measured and flawless.

Not just a jumble of letters, BCBGMAXAZRIA is the brainchild of husband and wife team Max and Lubov Azria. A label which has a loyal following from some of Hollywood's top celebrities, the Azria's offered a predominantly monochrome runway show, with strong leather detailing mixed with delicate lace.

Gilded Age
And for the lads? Gilded Age took it down a notch with a more casual feel. Think: jeans, t-shirts and the all important leather motorcycle jacket. Pops of colour were encouraged, as was the cool-guy quiff.

The culture of confidence?
It's all about New York Fashion Week.
It's all about leather.
It's all about Viparo.
